Vannamei shrimp

The tropical shrimp (Panaeus vannamei or Litopenaeus vannamei, also known as the Pacific white-legged shrimp) is a decapod crustacean that lives in the tropical waters of the western Pacific Ocean. Important for human nutrition, the specimens, easily found in large-scale distribution, come mostly from farms (the weight ratio between the quantity raised and fished is approximately one thousand to one).

Argentine shrimp

It lives along the coasts of the southwestern Atlantic from Brazil to Chile, but the areas with the highest concentration are the coasts of Argentine Patagonia. It has similar habits to another Argentine shrimp, Artemesia longinaris, it is a good swimmer but also spends a lot of time on the seabed to hunt or hide.

It is a very exploited species for human nutrition, up to 12,000 tons per year, although less valuable than the Mediterranean shrimp.
